Zen Link™ is an expansion module that adds Wi-Fi functionality to your Cronus Zen™ gaming adapter (separate purchase). This opens up exciting future possibilities and currently provides full PS5® console support through Remote Play without the need to be tethered to a PC. Simply configure on your PC once, then plug into your Cronus Zen™ device to use it on your PS5® console without issue. Please follow this guide in order to get setup in no time!
Windows 10/11 PC is required for Zen Link™ initial setup, and for Cronus Zen™ configuration in Zen Studio™ at this time!
*** PS5® Remote Play MUST be run on your PC, logged in, and successfully connected to your PS5® console at least once, before attempting to set up the Zen Link™ device ***
To set up Remote Play, visit the following link here for detailed instructions. The Windows PC version of Remote Play MUST be used! Once you have completed setup and connected to your PS5® console, you can close the Remote Play application.
Zen Link™ is a 2.4 GHz device and during the setup process it will need to copy your Wi-Fi credentials. Ensure your Windows PC is physically unplugged from wired ethernet, and connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi capable network. By default, most 5 Ghz networks share credentials between the 5 Ghz and 2.4 Ghz bands. If the credentials are different for the 2.4 Ghz band, you will need to connect your PC to the 2.4 Ghz band.
You MUST have already configured PS5® Remote Play on your setup PC to successfully proceed with Zen Link™ setup. This mostly "one time" setup will only require a refresh if you change your network settings or PSN® login.
Using the supplied short cable, plug Zen Link™ into your Windows PC.
After you install Zen Studio 1.6.0 build 13 or higher, Double Click the Zen Link Configurator shortcut on your desktop to open the configurator.
Proceed with the following. Please be patient between clicks as the configurator is working:
a. Click "Read Settings From Windows". Ensure it is the 2.4 Ghz Wi-Fi credentials.
b. Click "Load Console Data".
c. Click "Save All To Device".
d. Click "Restart Device".
After Zen Link™ has restarted, its LEDs should turn ORANGE to confirm Wi-Fi is connected.
The Zen Link™ firmware update will start with BLINKING BLUE LEDs on the device, and the configurator's status bar will display "Flashing" with the current progress. DO NOT unplug the device, and wait for "Done. Rebooting Device".
The Zen Link™ LEDs will turn back to ORANGE. It has now rebooted, disconnected from the configurator, and it is ready for use! (If unplugged and plugged back in, a CYAN LED will be briefly shown to confirm Zen Console Mode is ready). Click "Yes" to close the configurator and unplug the Zen Link™:
Now that Zen Link™ is configured with your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi credentials, it no longer requires your PC to connect. Return your PC to its usual means of internet connection.
If things didn't go to plan, check out the LED Troubleshooting section here for help.
One time Initial Setup MUST be completed!
Zen Link™ MUST be within reasonable range of your wireless router/modem to ensure smooth operation; otherwise lag and disconnecting could occur. You should have a good idea from your other devices as to whether you are within a decent Wi-Fi signal range.
Zen Link™ uses similar technology to PlayStation® Portal and as such, it is subject to the same restrictions. For the best possible experience, minimize the amount of high bandwidth devices and apps like Netflix® running on your network while you are playing. If your network is prone to dropping out, it will affect Zen Link™.
Connect your PS5® console via wired ethernet, if possible. The PS5® puts out plenty of hot air near the ethernet connection, so if you see instances of your ethernet connection dropping out on your console, you may need a higher quality cable.
Plug Cronus Zen™ into your PS5® console.
Using the supplied short cable, plug Zen Link™ into the A1 port (left side):
Wait for the LED sequence to settle on GREEN.
When using a wired connection for your controller, plug it into either the A3 or A2 port.
Use Cronus Zen™ on your PS5® as normal.
Cronus Zen™ fulfills the role of a soundcard to support headset audio & microphone for the Zen Link™ remote play connection. For this to work, your controller MUST be using a WIRED connection to the Cronus Zen™. 3.5mm audio & microphone is unavailable over a wireless Bluetooth® controller connection.
If you need to use your controller wirelessly, other options exist for audio, such as purchasing a USB wired headset or wireless headset that is compatible with PS5®.
